Japanese disasters hit UK car production

The Japanese car maker, Honda, says it plans to reduce the number of cars made at one of its UK factories. This is due to a parts shortage following the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The 3,000 workers at the plant will remain on full pay.

More wreckage from Air France plane found

French investigators say they have found more pieces of an Air France jet, which crashed over the Atlantic Ocean two years ago. All 228 people on board died. This latest search is the fourth attempt to try and establish what caused the crash.

Emotional pain can cause real pain, says study

A research study published this week suggests that after the end of a relationship, a broken heart really can hurt. The study in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, shows that physical pain and the emotional pain can ‘hurt’ in the same way.

Women and Wal-Mart case goes to court

Eco-friendly light bulb wins design award

A British designer has won an award for a sculpted, low-energy light bulb. The Plumen bulb won the Design of the Year award in a competition run by London’s Design Museum. The bulb is said to last eight times longer than a traditional light bulb.
